Marilyn Monroe, Beyoncé, Scarlet Johansson, Sophia Loren. All beautiful women who are known for their feminine figure. This is due to their hourglass figure: a narrow waist and wider hips. Women with an hourglass figure have a low waist/hip ratio. This is the ratio between the circumference of your waist and that of your hips. Women with an hourglass figure have a waist/hip ratio of 0,7 while for men it is an average of 0,9.
HRT, or Hormone Replacement Therapy, can help change the way soft tissue forms in the body and the way existing fat is redistributed. Surgical interventions through body feminization surgery may be a solution for those cases where HRT does not change the desired soft tissue. It can create a lower waist to hip ratio for those who desire it.
The most common hip expansion method for transgender women is liposculpture, or fat grafting. Liposculpture involves removing fat from another part of the body, usually the abdomen. It is the most natural option. There must be enough natural body fat for this operation. If the fat in your abdomen – or any other part of your body – is transferred to your hips, about 40% of the injected fat will be absorbed by your body. The remaining 60% of the fat remains permanently on the hips.
The operation is performed under local or general anesthesia. Depending on the effect you want to achieve with hip augmentation, a second fat graft can be performed approximately six months after the first operation.

We are regularly asked whether it is possible to combine a hip enlargement with another procedure. This is often useful for trans women who come to the 2pass Clinic from abroad. If you combine it with another operation, you only have to make the trip once, only have to take one vacation and only have to recover once. The downside is that it has a major impact on your body, both physically and mentally.
It is possible to combine your hip enlargement with a buttock enlargement. But we would like to warn you: it can be very uncomfortable as you will only be able to sleep on your stomach after these procedures.
Would you like more information? Curious about what we can do for you? The doctors will be happy to explain all this during a personal consultation.
