Some temporary numbness in any of the areas where bone work is done is a definite certainty. This can include the scalp, forehead, chin, jaw or even cheek areas depending on where the surgery is done. This occurs because the soft tissue is separating from the bony area. Several thousand small nerves are severed and it will obviously take some time for these areas to heal. A recovery time of up to 18 months is not unusual but is usually shorter. You may not get the same level of feeling as before.
