Facial Feminization Surgery (FFS) at 2pass Clinic, your face in line with who you are

Table of contents:

Your face is the first thing people see, and for many trans women it is also the most important aspect of their social and emotional recognition. Facial Feminization Surgery (FFS) can make a world of difference in this.

At 2pass Clinic we understand better than anyone how big that impact is. Our specialized surgeons offer high-quality FFS treatments, fully tailored to your unique facial structure and personal wishes.

Whether you want subtle adjustments or a complete transformation of your face, we will guide you step by step towards a look that better matches how you feel inside.

What exactly is Facial Feminization Surgery?

FFS is a collective term for surgical procedures that soften or modify male facial features, with the aim of achieving a more feminine facial expression. The treatments focus on
focuses on the bone structure, soft tissues and proportions of the face. The exact combination
of interventions varies from person to person, depending on your anatomy and your goals.

Interventions may include:

The goal is always a harmonious and soft facial shape that suits your gender identity — not necessarily “feminine” according to a universal standard, but in line with how you see yourself.

How is your FFS trajectory at 2pass Clinic going?

Every treatment at 2pass Clinic starts with a personal trajectory, completely customized. No standard solutions, but care on an individual level. This is what that trajectory looks like:

1. Consultation & preparation

During the first consultation, we will analyze your face and listen to your expectations. We will discuss your medical history, take measurements and look at your skin structure, facial proportions and bone structure. We will take the time to set realistic goals and clearly explain what is feasible. You will receive a proposal for the treatment plan, including the order of the procedures, recovery period and cost specification.

2. The operation

The operations take place in our own specialized clinic in Antwerp, with full medical support. Depending on the complexity, one or more sessions may be necessary. The interventions are performed under general anesthesia. We strive to combine multiple corrections in one round of surgery where possible.

3. Recovery and aftercare

After the procedure, you will remain in our clinic for a few days for observation. You will receive extensive aftercare instructions and we will plan the check-ups carefully. Swelling, bruising and temporary
numbness is normal, and usually subsides within a few weeks. The final
Results will be visible in the months following the procedure, when the swelling has completely subsided.

We are available throughout the entire process and will remain your point of contact after your stay.

What can you expect from the result?

FFS is not a superficial change. It can have a profound effect on how you experience yourself — and how others see you. Patients often experience significant increases in self-confidence, comfort in social situations, and reduced stress around misgendering.

The full results of FFS are usually seen after 6 to 12 months, when all swelling has disappeared.

The scars are placed as discreetly as possible and in most cases they fade well. Important to know: FFS changes your face, but not who you are. It actually strengthens who you are.
always was — visible and recognizable.

Do I Need Facial Feminization Surgery?

FFS can be a solution if you:

  • Are a trans woman who can't find a way to look in the mirror comfortably.
  • Are a trans woman who feels that certain facial features cause misgendering and you find this disturbing.
  • Are unhappy with some facial features that you would prefer to feminize.

Your “passing” can improve thanks to this surgery. It can help you to live confidently as the woman you are without having to worry about being spoken to incorrectly, for example. This was proven in a study in which 118 of our patients mapped their feelings about their passing before and after their FFS.

FFS can help people better express their true identity, making them feel better about themselves. This in turn can lead to more self-confidence and fewer social fears and phobias, which the LGBTQI+ community often struggles with.

Of course, no one could say it better than these former FFS patients themselves:

What was your life like before and after FFS?

Quote from Munroe Bergdorf, former patient of 2pass Clinic:

There was a moment when I was afraid to leave the house. I didn't dare go out into the world and that's no way to live. That's when having facial feminization surgery (FFS) became really crucial for me.

I just wanted to live a life where gender dysphoria didn't affect me so much that I couldn't focus on work or be vulnerable in sexual situations. I wanted freedom.

Now I feel better than ever. I can leave the house without makeup and without fear of being attacked. I didn't realize how disturbed my body experience was until I had that operation. I also didn't know how much I was holding back when it came to intimacy. If you don't feel connected to your body, how can you build something with someone? When I got closer to myself, I was able to get closer to other people.”

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Am I suitable for FFS?
If you experience certain facial features as too masculine and want to bring your identity more in line with your appearance, FFS may be suitable. During the consultation we will discuss whether your anatomy allows this.
The procedures themselves are performed under general anesthesia. Afterwards you may experience swelling, pressure or sensitivity, but we always provide medication and guidance.
On average, you will stay with us for 2 to 4 nights, depending on the extent of the operation(s).
After a few weeks you will see the first changes. The final result is only visible after complete healing — this usually takes 6 to 12 months.
Our surgeons make the incisions as subtle as possible, often in the hairline or natural skin folds. They fade over time and are rarely noticeable.
Sometimes FFS is (partly) reimbursed by health insurers or in specific countries. Check with your own insurance company if this applies to you.
Although some techniques overlap, FFS is a specialty that goes far beyond cosmetics. It is about gender affirming care, with a strong focus on psychological impact.
Yes, depending on your health and goals, other treatments such as voice feminization or breast correction can be combined. This will be discussed during the consultation.
We usually recommend a minimum of 2 to 4 weeks, depending on your activities and recovery rate.
No, FFS is also possible without hormone therapy. Long-term hormone treatment can affect skin structure and fat distribution, which we take into account in the planning.
