Endoscopic forehead lift

Endoscopic forehead lift

Table of contents:

What does an endoscopic forehead lift involve?

When you have low eyebrows, deep forehead lines or a pronounced frown, this can lead to a tired or even stern appearance. In addition, the pressure on your eyes can cause you to unknowingly tense your forehead muscles, which can cause headaches, tension and fatigue.

In such cases, an endoscopic forehead lift can be an effective solution. This procedure aims to lift and tighten the skin of the forehead and eyebrows, giving you a younger, more relaxed and rested appearance. This treatment is often combined with an eyelid correction for an even fresher look.

The results of an endoscopic forehead lift usually remain visible for 10 to 15 years. However, it is important to take into account the natural aging process of the skin.

How does an endoscopic forehead lift proceed?

There are two approaches to this procedure:

  1. Forehead lift: An incision is made along the hairline.

  2. Direct eyebrow lift: This technique removes skin above the eyebrows. Although small scars may appear at the top of the eyebrows, these will fade over time and will be barely visible.

During a consultation, our surgeon, Dr. Van Nimmen, will discuss with you which method best suits your situation.

Possible disadvantages or complications

  • As with any medical procedure, there may be risks involved, including:

    • Accumulation of blood under the skin (hematoma)

    • Unexpected reaction to anesthesia

    • Postoperative bleeding or infection

    • Sensational changes in the skin

    • Scars that may remain permanently visible

    • Damage to underlying structures

    • Unsatisfactory aesthetic result or asymmetry in the eyebrows

Recovery after the procedure

  • The treatment is performed under general or local anesthesia. After the procedure, you may experience mild discomfort such as swelling, numbness or tingling. The incision sites may feel somewhat sensitive or itchy, especially on hairy parts of the head. These complaints usually disappear within three months.

Swelling and bruising often worsen in the first three days after the procedure and then gradually subside. It is normal for swelling to descend to the eyelids. The skin on your forehead may temporarily feel hard due to scarring and tissue layers sticking together. This will normalize on its own in the weeks following the procedure.

Aftercare

  • To promote recovery and achieve the best results, it is important to carefully follow the aftercare instructions.

    • Cooling: Use ice packs for the first two days after the procedure to reduce swelling.

    • Sleeping high: When sleeping, lie with an extra pillow under your head to prevent fluid retention.

    • Scar cream: Once the wound has closed and any scabs have disappeared, you can begin applying scar cream. Apply this twice a day to support good healing.

Our employees will guide you during the aftercare period and are available to answer any questions you may have.
