Are you looking for a long-term solution for excessive hair growth? At o2 Clinic we offer the safest and most complete hair removal thanks to the Definitive Plus laser device. Using three different wavelengths, unlike other laser devices, it can treat any hair type at any time of the year, even tanned skin (not tanned by the sun). Both dark hairs and light and thin hairs can be treated and eliminated quickly and efficiently.

How does long-term laser hair removal work?

The laser light from the Definitive Plus laser device penetrates the hair follicle located in the skin and damages it so that the hair does not grow back or slows future hair growth to ultimately lead to permanent hair reduction.

The same applies to laser hair removal as to electrolysis hair removalthe hair is only removed when it is at the correct stage of the growth cycle. This consists of the growth phase, the transition phase and the resting phase. The treatment is most effective during the growth phase. The beautician cannot change the growth cycle, so the treatments must be repeated for the hairs that were not in the correct phase.

Each pulse of the laser takes only a fraction of a second, but can target multiple hairs at once. Each pulse can cover an area the size of a 1 euro coin. The big advantage is that it is relatively painless.

Which areas can you have treated with laser?

Thanks to the wide range of wavelengths, our laser offers an efficient and permanent solution for every part of the body: between the eyebrows, upper lip, cheeks, armpits, arms, legs, beard, pubic area and back.

When will you see results?

The number of treatments needed for long-term hair removal varies from person to person and depends on:

When do we advise against laser hair removal?

In the following cases we advise against to have laser treatment done:

  • Cancer
  • Pregnancy
  • Fever
  • Sunburn
  • Epilepsy
  • Certain medication use (roaccutane, isotretoin/vitamin A cream, antidepressants, St. John's wort, antibiotics)
  • Pacemaker
  • Autoimmune diseases

How many sessions do you need?

As mentioned, this varies from person to person. On average, there are three to seven treatments required to achieve the desired result. A treatment session lasts between 15 minutes and 1,5 hours, depending on the area treated.

Five to six treatments, at least 28 days apart to allow the skin to recover, is usually sufficient for small areas of skin such as your face, forearms or bikini line. Larger areas such as the legs, chest and back require a more intensive treatment with six weeks of rest between each session.

When you come for your effective treatment, make sure you shave the area to be treated the day beforeThis is necessary to make the most of your session time and to avoid burnt hairs and odor nuisance.

Your next treatments

After the first treatment you will be familiar with the procedure and know how many treatments you will probably receive. For your treatments you should take the following into account:

  • Do not epilate or wax for three months before and during treatment.
  • Shaving, bleaching or trimming the hair is no problem. Shave the area to be treated the day before each treatment.
  • Avoid sun exposure for two weeks before your treatment. Sun exposure makes the treatment less effective and increases the chance of complications later (more pigment in the skin).

What happens after your treatments?

On the day of your laser treatment your skin may be red and swollen. The reaction varies from person to person and is temporary. The treated skin area can be painful. This pain lasts no longer than two days. The hair begins to fall out during the days following your laser treatment. After your laser hair removal, you should definitely remember the following:

  • Your skin may become lighter or darker, which is usually temporary.
  • In rare cases, the treatment may lead to the formation of crusts, blisters, scars or a change in the skin texture.
  • In some exceptional cases, treated hair may turn gray or hair may grow excessively in the treated area.
  • Do not expose your skin to the sun for 1 week after treatment.
